Si certains morceaux mettent des années avant de trouver leur forme, d’autres au contraire jaillissent en une soirée. ‘You Ae the Day’ a été composé, enregistré et (approximativement) mixé en un soir d'été à la Villa Médicis, à Rome, en 2013, avec un simple piano MIDI et une pédale de distorsion. J’ai toujours chéri ce genre de morceaux très courts, jouant sur la frustration, et j’avais gardée morceau dans ma tête en vue de l’hypothétique prochain album de That Summer. Mais son caractère brut et quasi improvisé correspond bien à l’état d’esprit de ce EP : j’ai gardé la demo car je ne voyais pas comment réenregistrer cette chanson sans perdre l’énergie et la spontanéité propres à ce genre de moments…

If some songs need years before reaching achievment, some others do on the contrary reach their final shape in one very evening. So does ‘You Are the Day’, composed, recorded and (roughly) mixed in one Summer eve at the Villa Medici in Rome in 2013. I’ve always cherished this kind of short, somehow frustrating tunes, and I had kept this one aside for the sake of a possible next album. Its rough, almost improvised character fits in this EP’s spirit. I kept the demos because I could imagine recording this tracks again without losing the spontaneity, the energy and the humble magic of this kind of moment…
