about

This is That Summer’s 6th recording. That Summer is David Sanson (vocals, keyboards, piano) with Étienne Bonhomme (drums, treatments), Olivier Cavaillé (guitars, bass on Obviously, cello, backing vocals on The Angelhood) & Nikolu Jorio (bass, guitars, backing vocals, Kaossillator on 'All Cats Are Grey'). Guest musicians on this recording were Sylvain Chauveau (vocals on 'Obviously'), Bernd Jestram (various trippy devices on 'April Skies' & 'All Cats Are Grey'), Geoffroy Montel (various overdubs), Krikor (overdubs on 'The Hues of You'), Nicolas Etiève (accordion on 'Chapel 16').

All songs composed by That Summer, except 'All Cats Are Grey' by Smith/Tolhurst/Gallup. All lyrics by David Sanson except 'The Angelhood', written by Valentine Borlant. 'The Hues of You' and 'Chapel 16' contain a few lines from poems by W.H. Auden and Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Interludes were composed by David Sanson, Nikolu Jorio or Geoffroy Montel, sometimes using unreleased takes for this album recorded by Cyril Secq & Matthias Grübel.

All tracks were recorded by Bernd Jestram during a 2-week session @ Studio Bleibeil, Berlin, in August 2008. Overdubs were then recorded @ various places in Paris. Near Miss was post-produced and mixed by Geoffroy Montel @ Minizza Studio, Belleville, except 'The Hues of You', produced by Krikor. Mastered by Geoffroy Montel. Cover photos by Dorothée Smith. Model: Leslie Auguste. Sleeve design by Barbeline.ab

'Karl-Marx-Avenue' (That Summer/David Sanson) was recorded with Leslie Auguste (vocals) in 2009 Paris, mainly @ Studio 138 by Etienne Bonhomme.
